Creating Accounts
When creating a SafeTravel account, it is important to select the appropriate type of registration. Tour group registration is intended for New Zealanders travelling overseas as part of a tour, sporting, or other group and should not be used by individuals or family groups.
If you are registering a tour group, registration should be completed by the tour organiser, on behalf of the individuals participating in the tour. Consent from each individual needs to be obtained before registration can occur. Tour group participants may also register themselves as individuals.
Note that tour group registration requires minimal detail to be entered about each tour participant. In the event of an emergency we may need to contact tour organisers for further information about individuals.
Privacy
The Ministry collects personal information voluntarily entered on your account for the purpose of providing travel advisory emails and consular services. Further information on Safe Travel privacy is available here.
Security
The Ministry uses 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption and employs firewalls and intrusion prevention and detection systems to ensure your information is kept safe during transmission.
Continuity of Service
The Ministry makes no warranty or representation, express or implied, as to continuity of service and reserves the right to suspend, terminate or otherwise alter access to some or all of the site's services at any time and without notice.
Revisions

Unsubscribe
Once you have registered, details will remain available unless deliberately removed, with the exception of destination details which will become unavailable 30 days after departing a destination.
To stop receiving contact, log in and enter departure dates to show you are no longer travelling.
To remove a registration, send a request to cons@mfat.govt.nz to remove the account.
Disclaimer
The Ministry will make every effort to contact an individual, family, and tour, sporting and other groups in the event of an emergency, but this cannot be guaranteed in all instances.

Email Activation

No travel advisory emails will be sent to email addresses that have not been activated. If you do not wish to receive any emails by activating your account, you do not need to take any further action. Acceptable Use
You can give up to six email addresses to receive travel advisory emails. Only add another person’s email address if you believe they want to receive these travel advisories. Adding the same address more than once so that another person receives multiple emails from the Ministry is a breach of acceptable use. The Ministry can cancel your account if you use this service to repeatedly email, spam, or otherwise act in a way the Ministry considers unacceptable. To prevent further abuse, the Ministry may take any other steps it believes are necessary.
